FAQs

Picking the right Medi-Spa treatment can seem daunting and often raises a number of questions, particularly around the effectiveness, cost and safety of each procedure. Here at Marlow Face & Body, we have put together a list of frequently asked questions, to help put our customers minds at ease.

CoolTech® Fat Freezing

CoolTech® Fat Freezing works by freezing tough pockets of fat within your body.   Each treatment lasts 70 minutes and there is minimal discomfort.  The fat die, and are naturally metabolised through the lymphatic system.  Results are usually visible from 6 weeks but the final results take 2-3 months,  Once the fat cells are gone, they are gone for good. CoolTech® Fat Freezing is one of the world’s leading, non-invasive fat reduction procedures.  The results are clinically proven to be the same as Coolsculpting®.

Each CoolTech® treatment takes 70 minutes.  But the whole appointment takes around 90 minutes.  If you have 2 treatments, the appointment can take up to 3 hours.

CoolTech® is a safe treatment.  CoolTech® is made in Spain my a medical aesthetic company called Cocoon Medical who have proven the efficacy and safety of the technology through extensive clinical studies.  It meets European Health & Safety regulations and standards.

Each client will be given a free consultation prior to treatment and we will determine if you are a suitable candidate.

Furthermore, Marlow Face & Body is Save Face accredited (a government qualification), who have verified all practitioners are qualified and ensured to carry out treatments.

As with all aesthetic procedures, there may be some side effects after your treatment. These include: temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching or skin sensitivity. These are only temporary side effects and will subside within days or weeks.

Through medical clinical studies, CoolTech® has proven to have the same results as Coolsculpting®.  Most clients who have had both treatments say the results are the same.  But CoolTech® is between 30% to 60% less expensive, and you can treat 2 areas at a time making it take half the time (ex. treat both inner thighs at the same time because there are 2 hand pieces).

CoolTech® is a medical aesthetic device that is made by a medical company who have conducted clinical studies to prove it’s efficacy and safety.  CoolTech® is a controlled cooling device which is backed by a large organization.

Like anything, you get what you paid for.  There are fat freezing machines on the market who do not have any clinical studies and there is no large proving that it works or even if it’s safe.  Quite often, they are manufactured in Asia.  These machines can be purchased by anyone on the internet and they can offer fat freezing treatments without training or insurance.  By receiving treatment from one of these machines, there is no proof you will have results or if it’s safe.  And therefore, should something go wrong and your practitioner doesn’t have malpractice insurance, there isn’t a large organisation held accountable.

You need to make sure the BRAND of technology is clinically proven, and not just the type of treatment.  Ask your practitioner what brand of fat freezing they use and look it up.

As a consumer, make sure you do your research to find a clinically proven brand of machine from an insured and qualified practitioner.  Such as CoolTech®.

CoolTech® fat freezing can be a form of permanent fat reduction as long as you maintain a sensible diet and lifestyle after treatment. Poor diet, lack of exercise or hormonal changes may affect long term results. If weight gain occurs a maintenance treatment may be advisable after a few years.

CoolTech® fat freezing is suitable for treating areas of fat that are hard to shift through diet and exercise alone.

This is usually for areas commonly known as saddle bags, muffin tops, love handles, bra bulges, double chins, bingo wings, flabby knees and post pregnancy tummies.

Typically it is used by men and women to help reduce fat on the:

  • abdomen
  • back
  • thighs
  • hips
  • legs
  • arms
  • chin

However, treatment times range depending on skin colour, hair type, and size of treatment area. This means different people will see different session lengths. For more information, please contact a member of our team on 01628 302028.

The amount of time before a patient starts to see results is dependant on their skin colour and hair type. Most patients will see likely see results after six to eight treatments.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are made of up gel substances, to help contour and define areas where wrinkles or folds have appeared. Dermal fillers are usually made up of a Hydrochloric Acid (HA) which is a naturally occurring form of lubrication, found in our skin and joints. HA binds with water in your body to help hydrate, as well as add definition.

Prior to your treatment, a member of our team will go through a complete consultation with you. In this consultation, you will be made aware of how the procedure works, and why it helps. When you are comfortable, the area of skin you wish to be treated will be cleansed and numbed using a topical anaesthetic. The dermal filler will then be applied, and you will be given after care as necessary.

During the procedure, you may feel some slight discomfort as the injection is being applied. This will increase or decrease depending on the depth of the procedure. To try and minimise any pain as much as possible, we apply a topical anaesthetic. The injection will also have a local anaesthetic mixed in to further reduce discomfort.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are solutions that are applied to your face to help improve and smooth the skin. The peels are made up of a chemical solution that helps remove top layers of skin, removing any dead skin as it is peeled off. This helps new, healthier skin to grow in its place.

Chemical peels can be used for a number of skin conditions by helping to promote new and healthier skin. Conditions include: acne, rough skin, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, fine lines, freckles, dark sports, and many more.

The amount of peels necessary depends on the type of peel you purchase. We currently have 5 types of chemical peel here at Marlow Face and Body, with treatment plans and time frames ranging between 2-4 weeks for 6 treatments. For more information on the different types of chemical peel available, you can visit our facial treatment page. Or you can contact us on 01628 302028.
